Year 1890
The roots of the Schneider family lie in the idyllic small town of Bregenz, near Lake Constance. Georg Schneider founded the first specialty rubber goods store in Austria in 1890 under the name Gummi-Schneider.
Year 1895
The company was relocated to the capital Vienna, from where customers throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire were supplied. Branch openings gradually followed in Temesvar and Budapest.
Year 1935
The Viennese wholesaler was joined by its own production company, the Schneiders Taschenfabrik.
Year 1960
The Schneiders company developed into the largest luggage manufacturer and became the leading brand throughout Austria and Europe.
Year 1986
Market launch of the VER SACRUM collection. Founder and 3rd generation of the Schneider family, Helga Stermann-Schneider, is realizing her dream of designing VER SACRUM Vienna, which combines the timelessly elegant design of Josef Hoffmann with the highest level of craftsmanship and functionality.
Year 1989
WALKER - the backpack brand is founded and quickly develops into a cult brand in Austria. Everywhere in the schoolyards, on the subways and on the streets you see teenagers carrying a Walker backpack. He becomes a symbol of an entire generation.
Year 2007
Relaunch of the Schneiders brand as the company name “Schneiders the bag company” and its brands: Schneiders Schule, Walker and Ver Sacrum.
year 2013
Schneiders the bag company is opening up to the digital world and launching its own online shop. A wide range of offerings from school bags to backpacks to high-quality leather goods.
Year 2017
Through close collaboration with the Speising orthopedic hospital, an ergonomic carrying system for Schneiders school bags was developed that fully meets occupational therapy and pediatric orthopedic requirements.
Year 2019
The Walker brand is celebrating its 30th birthday and a limited edition collection is being launched to mark this anniversary.

This year there is a generational change at Schneiders. The siblings Florian Stermann and Katharina Duteil-Stermann are taking over the management in the 4th generation, ushering in a new era!
